Faith and Happiness @ 01:50 pm

thequickwit:
I am about to leave for mass with my mother. She believes the catholic route so much. For me, it’s not so black and white. I find faith to be important to human nature. Think about it- Without faith what do we have to keep us going?! It is what's there in the moments you don’t want to get out of bed. In the darkness, I have to just look for it a little harder. And, I say it because I think it's important to find a higher power that suits you. I am still in the process of finding my own true faith. However, I am much happier than before I started. The key is to knowing there is a big difference between organized religion (denominations, churches, ect.) and being spiritually fit. At mass, I can always tell those who believe and those who are there just because they feel they should. It’s not an act either. Those few, who have faith, don’t keep peaking to see who is watching. They close their eyes and let themselves feel it. It’s only them and god at least for an hour a week. That is a feeling I was always slightly jealous of.

If I had to pick a religion, I am somewhere between Christian and Pagan. For those who don't know, Pagan is spirituality in nature. (I am going to add a link at the bottom with more info.) I believe God is everywhere and everything. He can take many forms to guide you on the path you are meant to be on. I find walking in the woods and just keeping my eyes open to those around me is where I can feel god the most. The biggest thing is that you find your own way! I can sit in church every Sunday, like I did for years, and get nothing out of it. Today, I use it as a time to meditate and spend time with my god once a week. I keep my ears open for any words of wisdom I could need to hear and just relax. It’s not perfection, but nothing is ever perfect.

At first, I even faked it and forced it. I read books and researched different religions. I tried to apply some of them to my life. It took me awhile to realize I was going about this all wrong. I needed to find a place where I felt a connection. I needed a place that I felt peace. One night, I got terribly upset and went for a walk. I found a path off the road and just walked through the tress. I listen to the earth crack and crunch under my hastened feet. I felt the wind brush my face. Next thing I know, I wasn’t so upset. My pace and heart rate slowed as I made my way forward. After that, I kept doing this every day. I would go for a walk on this path whenever I needed to. You could, almost, say that became my higher power. I let go. It was then I started to pray. I would pray every day, even when I didn’t want too. I would make sure to do extra on my bad days. Things started to look up again. No matter what happen- I was good because I started to trust in something bigger.

I, now, have a balance in my life between letting go of control of everything and trusting in something far greater then myself. That was all I needed- I needed to realize that god would do for me if I was open to putting good vibes out there for him. I spend some time everyday breathing and taking a look at my day. The difference is I feel more tranquility about life. SO, If You have something to throw my way- Give me your best shot.

That’s how faith started the best change of my life. Now, I am working on things I love and trusting that life will work as it should. It is a huge reason for this page. I want to share my journeys and feelings for others. Nevertheless, non-believer out there need not worry. This blog isn’t going to be crazy religious ramblings. I just plan to share on faith from time to time. Mostly, I am doing this to educate. I will attach some further links below if you are interested in looking further.

Here is some general information on paganism from BBC. There are many sites and books on the subject too. If you have any questions- Please ask. I'd love to share knowledge on it.

Can anyone reccomend an active LJ community or other  serious online discussion forum about past lives which is actually active - researching, examining soul purpose, etc. Open to discussion about both human and non-human lives :D

The LJ comms which I have found and online forums, all seem to be dead. :(

medication and readings/reiki healings @ 11:32 pm

badkitty1782:
I'm going to a new age/psychic expo this weekend and I was just wondering if anyone can tell me if certain medications can affect readings or healings or things like that.  I've never thought to ask before I've gone in the past, but I figured I'd might as well ask before I go again.  Every morning I usually take allergy meds and use my inhaler, but I also take Adderall XR and Wellbutrin XL.  I'd think the latter might cause issues since they have to do with the brain, plus the inhaler and Adderall XR both speed up my heart rate (and I usually have some kind of caffeine in the morning, too).  I'm sorry if this is the wrong place to post the question, but I didn't really know where else to go except for LJ communities.  Thank you all in advance!

Concerning my last post... @ 11:49 am

I'm Feeling: contemplative contemplative

My last post was met with some amount of hostility, and while some of the feedback was harsh I feel it was well deserved. Nothing drives me more than criticism. That said, I have revised the article into a manner that I hope is less dogmatic and just more informative.

After re-reading the article this morning, as I was trying to tweak it, I found many sections where my own fears and anger of past circumstances were glaring me in the face. This is not my intention for Craft Haven--to rant, and point fingers. I merely wish to be educational and to provide comfort to those seeking it. I will be more diligent here on out to make sure that I do not offend people. I am not naive in thinking that I can please everyone, but these past few hours have shown me that I can do much better.

If you wish to read the revised article, please refer to my last post for the link.

Pagan Sexuality @ 04:42 pm

craft_haven:
Current Location: Canada, Sudbury
I'm Feeling: accomplished accomplished

So recently I wrote an article about pagan sexuality. It was successful to a large degree. My goal was to be as upfront about the subject as I could be. You hear of so many people who mark sex as taboo, or they are at the very least embarrassed about the subject.

Why is this? The idea of sex ranges from an oppressed 'I am a sinner' view, to the carefree 'sex is a hobby' view. Where's the balance? I understand that the majority of people today grow up in households with parents whose best idea to keep their kid from 'promiscuity' is to tell them how wrong and disgusting sex is. What a mind trip!

I was part of a Christian family in my teens. My hormones were running wild around age seventeen. I was already inclined to be a 'rebel' and I can only imagine if my parents told me the above viewpoint. No doubt, I would only have gone to see for myself. Yet, I'm not like everybody. There are some people who take what their parents say as gospel (excuse the pun) and end up with their entire outlook on a life of love, tainted to a depressing degree.

What comes as a surprise is the look on peoples faces when they read that having safe and responsible sex is enjoyable. It widens peoples eyes with an expression of, "really?". Yes, really. Outside of being a responsible, loving adult, I don't feel that their should be any other sex rule. Sex is natural and should be enjoyed, not shunned. You shouldn't have to feel bad about it.

There are many other avenues I discussed in the article. If you would like to read it, just click here.

Greetings! @ 01:41 pm

craft_haven:
Current Location: Canada, Sudbury
I'm Feeling: accomplished accomplished

Hello everyone! This is officially my first post to this community, so I thought I would introduce myself. My pen/craft name is Marcus Briarstone, and I am a writer for a pagan informational website known as Craft Haven.

I am male, 26 years of age, and identify myself as an eclectic pagan. I do not follow a specific path as I find courage, strength, and harmony with most forms of earthen spirituality. I write to inform people of pagan history, celebrations, recipes, spells, and ultimately our common ground with many other faiths. It is through such that I find a sense of contentment; I drive myself to constantly update the website and provide accurate information through it, as well as my tweets on Twitter, and my posts here on Livejournal.

The website is a baby for now. There is a ton of work to do. My goal is to have it fully fleshed out with several hundred articles by the end of this summer--accurate and thought provoking articles.

I hope you all have a grand day. Thank you for reading this.

Nicolai Shmatko has presented his new sculpture "Ukrainian Aurora" - Yulia Timoshenko @ 09:32 pm

rerter10:
Nicolai Shmatko has presented his new sculpture "Ukrainian Aurora" and a new sculpture group "Christ's Appearance to the Apostles".

Nicolai Shmatko has presented his new sculpture "Ukrainian Aurora" and a new sculpture group "Christ's Appearance to the Apostles". It has taken 15 years for him to create the project with the Twelve Apostles.

In his sculptures Nicolai Shmatko decided to deviate from the Bible apostles known to us. "In this sculpture there are our contemporaries, people who live near us. Only Jesus Christ is an imaginary person as nobody can pretend to be like him. We can also see Peter, his favourite disciple, doubting Thomas and Judas. Among the known Bible persons I have embodied myself and my sons"- Nicolai Shmatko retells.
look a photo
http://www.kingofmarble-shmatko.com/engver/p1_project_en.html The preliminary cost of this sculpture is 1.5 mln. Euro.

The other sculpture of the Nicolai Shmatko "Ukrainian Aurora" has taken him half a year. He retells about it, "Aurora is a morning star which lights up the road of travelers and wayfarers. I decided to accent attention on this and tried to find a woman who can personify national pathos but I could not for a long time. And finally I found national Ukrainian colouring in Julia Timoshenko, Prime Minister of Ukraine".

http://www.kingofmarble-shmatko.com/engver/p4g1f.html
Nicolai Shmatko estimates this sculpture in 500 thousand Euro.

The sculptor noted that he is a non-party man and has not any political sympathies to Julia Timoshenko but her image helped him to create our contemporary Aurora.

"Terra Libertas". We can do it! @ 07:04 pm

rotte_volf:
Many critics say that our project is unreal. We can't agree with them and want to adduce some reasons for this. In fact, there are some organizations that provide various places where creative practitioners live and interact with one another. There are two primary organizations which specialize in this servis for artists - "Res Artis" and "Alliance of Artists Communities". But the point is that these organizations are fully commercial. Their main purpose is to earn money. Besides, except for residential services, they couldn't give anything for the artists.

In contrast, we can offer quite another thing.

Artist and poet Dmitry Kremnev finished work on a new conceptual canvas - diptych "The Truth". The first part of the picture - "The Words", has already been presented to the public, and now the artist put the second part, that has the unusual name - "0" (see below).

According to the artist, he already got the first assessment of the painting: - "I've got some feedback on the work from one expert from Canada, and from one art critic from the UK. Both of them, along with very valuable comments, gave the painting its appreciation."

Dmitry Kremnev announced his intention to convey a picture as a gift to the Fourteenth embodiment Bodhisattva of Compassion - The Dalai Lama Tenzin Gyatso. "I think to go to the India to give this picture personally for a man who, despite his high status, is very simple, well-wishers and treat with compassion to all living creatures" - said Kremnev.

Ephemeral Mists is a new musical project by composer Brett Branning (also the composer for The synthetic dream foundation & Abandoned Toys). "Moon Ritual" is the debut cd, out now on Mythical records.

The sound of the project is best described as downtempo ambient new age music mixed with ethnic world musics in the vein of "Karma" era Delerium, Amethystium, and Dead Can Dance. Its really a an incredibly beautiful creation and I sincerely recommend it to anyone into newage music styles. I'm looking forward to further releases by this project.

Kundalini - anybody experienced? @ 10:51 pm

odyssey_bold:
I'm Feeling: weird grateful.

Hello! I am popping in to look for more people who have experienced a full or partial kundalini awakening, or have otherwise strongly experienced kundalini especially in combination with other bodily energies (e.g. called "chi" or "prana"). I have an intellectual suspicion that slightly more and more people will be experiencing this kind of thing as mystical/spiritual teachings spread, which seem largely embraced by the New Age movement.

If not yourself, if you if have resource recommendations or know of other individuals on LJ or elsewhere, that would be gratefully appreciated.

My experiences prompting this:

Due to near-constant awareness practices of body and mind, as well as some meditation, dahn yoga, spiritual friends, qi gong, breathwork, massaging, reiki, and dreamwork... stuff is waking up. Primary teachings currently are from Tolle, Almaas, and Hawkins. Specifically, I seem to experience a very old heart chakra blockage, and as of last night something strange is going on with my crown and brain that isn't physically explainable as I've been taught there are no sensory nerves in the brain. (Pressure came down through my skull like a rod to the center of my skull and made the center and right half of my brain feel buzzing or hot. Now it's faded and just feels like the right side of my brain is woken up, and my nervous system feels overcharged like it's adjusting to a greater volume of raw sensation and perception.) Last night I had my closest spiritually connected friend over after his three months abroad, and the energetic exchange and meditation experiences we had were amazing. We're both waking up in different ways in which we're strongest (me in body, him in heart).

I'll also note some stats:

I give my mind-body no drugs except alcohol very rarely. Body's 21 years old, male, and bisexual. I first started serious psychological self-awareness seven years ago (Myers Briggs, Maslow), initial spiritual awareness five years ago (Enneagram, Eastern spiritualities), and in the past two years a dramatic and self-reinforcing acceleration of certain spiritual and mind-body-energy awareness capacities (Tolle, Hawkins, Almaas, Art of Living organization, various mystics).

If you'd like to friend me for some other reason, or simply if this is interesting, I'd imagine I would benefit and reciprocate. I'm looking for more people who are aligned with this kind of work in general, especially if you happen to have a very open heart chakra. ;-)

Peace -- and Happy New Year! =)
